Lavender Vanilla Martinis

Ingredients for Lavender Syrup:

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons dried lavender


4 ounces vodka
1 ounce vanilla vodka
1 ounce lavender syrup
1 drop blue food coloring
1 drop red food coloring

To make the lavender syrup place the dried lavender and sugar in a small saucepan, add water and place on the stove. Bring to a simmer so the sugar completely dissolves and boil gently for 3 to 5 minutes until syrup is reduced by about a third. Syrup should be completely cool before using and it could be made a day or two ahead and placed in the refrigerator.

To prepare the cocktails first rim the martini glasses with sugar (or lavender sugar!) then frost them in the freezer. To make the cocktail combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well. pour into two martini glasses garnish with a sprig of lavender or a lemon curl and enjoy!
