Chamomile is one of the most popular botanicals around. The daisy-like bloom of the family Asteraceae, chamomile is rather cosmopolitan, native to Europe, north Africa, and parts of Asia, it’s likewise cultivated globally. Apple-bright and honeyed on the pallet, it has been used for thousands of years to make teas, ales, and bring scent and flavor wherever it’s found.
While there are many different types, culinarily, chamomile has three varieties: German, Roman, and the most prized, Egyptian Chamomile, which is what we use in our tea blends. Chamomile has been used as a relaxation and sleep aid for centuries. Popularly, it’s known to be calming and help with tension, anxiety, and have generally sedative and lulling effects.
Whether by itself, or in our Sereni-Tea Herbal Spa or Tranquil Mind Tisane blends, chamomile is best enjoyed by brewing 1 - 1.5 tsp in boiling water (between 195℉ - 205℉ or 90.5℃ - 96℃) for 3 - 5 minutes.
