1 Whole Chicken, cut into 8 pieces
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
2 Tablespoons Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning Blend
Canola or vegetable oil for frying
Mix the flour with 1/2 tablespoon (1-1/2 teaspoons) of Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning Blend
Heat a deep skillet or a Dutch oven over medium heat and add 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup of oil (vegetable, canola or peanut).
Toss the chicken pieces in the flour to coat thoroughly.
Shake off excess flour and place the pieces into the oil when it is shimmering. Do not over crowd the pan, and add extra oil if needed.
Cook for 8-10 minutes or until the breading is golden to light brown. Flip the pieces over and cook for another 10-12 minutes. Check the internal temperature for 165° F
In a medium bowl add the remaining spices.
When the chicken pieces are ready ladle about 2/3 cup of hot oil into the bowl and mix with the spices. This gives the chicken the authentic crunchy finish.
Toss the hot chicken in this oil to coat and serve immediately.
