Black Teas - Russian Caravan Tea - Loose Leaf Tea

Description

Russian Caravan is a blend of premium Chinese Black teas. The name originates from the 18th century camel caravans that facilitated the 11,000-mile transcontinental journey from Asia thru Russia to Europe. Along the route the tea aged and absorbed various aromas, one being smoke from the nightly campfires. Modern day Russian Caravan has pine smoked Lapsang Souchong rather than the traditional campfire smoke and camel sweat. We blend it with full leaf teas from the Fujian, Yunnan and Anhui provinces of China to complete this superior blend.

Steeping Instructions: 1-1.5 tsp, Boiling Water, 3-5 Minutes

    This is one of my favorites, especially in fall and winter. There's some Lapsang Souchong in this blend that is wonderfully smokey - but far less smokey that brewing the Lapsang Souchong by itself - much milder and and perfectly blended with the other teas in this blend of Chinese black teas. I brew it at about 2-1/2 minutes first infusion instead of the recommended three minutes for a beautifully balanced flavor.

    Sent some originally to friends in Oregon, along with another tea. They loved the Russian Caravan so much, we sent some more (a bigger stash!).
